What to Expect
HOW A READING PROCEEDS
Believe it or not, my favorite way to read cards is over the phone to a complete stranger. Why? Because it’s a challenge. It’s more interesting to me. But what about you? What do you need to know when you’re going to have your cards read?
First of all, have a question or two in mind. That helps — it isn’t completely necessary, but it can get the ball rolling. Don’t say too much. It’s a kindness to the reader if you let him or her know if they’re on track by acknowledging what you’re being told, or dismissing it, but don’t take that opportunity to then fill in all the blanks. Besides just giving your reading away, you might not be seeing an aspect of the situation that needs illumination. After all, why did you come to have your cards read to begin with? Too much information can steer the reader into your version of reality when there may be a perfectly good alternate version to consider.
When I read for you, we will begin by me shuffling the cards and laying out a spread. This gives me a picture of something going on in your life, and I’ll tell you what I see. When I’m finished describing that, you are free to spend the rest of the time asking questions about what I just said, and/or about anything else you like.
Be aware that I won’t answer particular questions such as: “When am I going to die?” or “am I having a boy or a girl?” It’s not that it can’t be seen in the cards, it’s just not useful information. I know that there is a technique to predict death, but I’ve never learned it, and I never will. What’s the point? Once, when attempting to answer the question, “am I having a boy or a girl?” I saw clearly that the baby was a girl, but several cards later I saw a miscarriage. I will not convey that information. After all, I could be wrong, and what purpose would it serve to say the words? It would only set the client up for a negative future. That’s pointless. (More on this at the end of the post). Also, “yes” and “no” questions will not bring a good answer. The more specific your question is, the better the answer will be.
Remember, there are plenty of people out there who can’t read cards, but they’re happy to help you part with your money. I’m talking about the ones who tell you they see a “darkness around your soul” or some such thing. Then they want you to scurry over to the nearest ATM to take out the needed funds to perform the ceremony to banish the bad spirit. If you find yourself in this situation, just get up and leave. The truth is, the human condition comes complete with some guilt for everyone. Just be aware of it, and don’t let anyone use it to manipulate you.
Other readers do have the talent, but not the discretion that should go with it. These, I call the “Drama Readers”. They’re always telling you the bad news. They dwell on the drama in your life. Let’s face it — there’s bad news in everyone’s life — and it’s always followed by good news. That’s the way the world works. When I read your cards, and I see bad news, I’ll let you know…but I won’t end the reading until I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We all need something good to look forward to when times are bad, and I will look until I find it, and then I’ll tell you what I see.
I characterize myself an a Professional Reader because although I can see the bad stuff — and trust me, it’s easy to see — I know it will be followed by some good stuff, so I’ll give you a look at that, too. Without getting too scientific here, know that no reader is 100% accurate. What we are actually seeing is the most likely possible future you will have based on how things have set up in your life so far. Add to that, the multiple possible futures of the people in your life. Quantum physics says that there are infinite possible futures at any given moment, and that’s true. As human beings, we’re just not always able to see our part in selecting them. The future is NOT written in stone by any means. In my opinion, the best time to get a reading is when you’re at a crossroads — then you have the chance to turn your reality in a new direction. It’s just helpful to be able to see around the corners a bit!
Instructions for setting up a reading are to the left of this post in the margin.
