kwaldherrKris is a prolific artist having created and published 3 decks – going on five! We spoke about a number of subjects including the first time she drew images of the Tarot, all of the technology she brings to her work online, those who inspire her, and so much more.

What a fascinating interview with Kris. I have to confess I had been wondering why anyone would want an iPhone Tarot app, but her explanation of pulling it out in the middle of O’Hare to know how to handle a flight delay with a 4-year old in tow made perfect sense. I get it–it’s the same way I wondered about having a find-your-way map-screen in a car–and now I can’t imagine driving someplace I don’t know where I’m going without it. Hmm… sort of like the Tarot?

I won! I won! I’ve downloaded the Goddess Tarot iPhone app and have used it a few times. First off, the cards are beautiful, and I’ll bet the physical deck is even more lovely. I especially like the fact that the Goddesses are from all over the planet–lots of diversity. I’ve done both 1 single card reading, a 3-card reading (past-present-future) and the whole-shebang Celtic Cross. The app is easy to use and the readings are easy to read/interpret. I also like the way the cards sparkle when you tap them to “start shuffling.” The only downside is the “save a reading” feature. It’s a nice concept but it doesn’t really work practically–your iPhone saves an image of the reading and if it’s the Celtic Cross, that’s a lot of cards; the images are small and very difficult to tell which card is which when you look at the photo later, even after you’ve downloaded it to your computer. Features I like are that you can look at all the cards just as you could with a real deck and unlike a real deck, you can look at each Goddess. The controls for that work just like other iPhone scrolling controls (the same as if you were making an appointment). All in all, a wonderful app and I do believe Kris–it’s the most beautiful iPhone app ever.
