HOW TO DEVELOP YOUR PSYCHIC ABILITIES — CLASS #1

You’ve heard this before: “Everyone is a little bit psychic—some people are more psychic than others”.

What makes someone “more psychic” than another? Well, there’s practice. You can’t practice until you have some level of belief that you can do it. You won’t practice jumping off the high dive unless somewhere, deep down, you believe you’ll survive it. You won’t practice playing piano unless you believe that you’ll be able to play a song as time goes by. You have to learn the fundamentals and then practice them.

When you decide you want to learn to play basketball, you learn the rules of the game, you learn how to dribble, shoot, pass and block and then you do them over and over again until they become second nature. In the game itself, this pays off.

So how do you practice being psychic? The number one roadblock to getting anywhere here is judgment. YOUR judgment about yourself that says you can’t do it. So for starters, you must assume that you can. It costs you nothing to have this thought, so step number one is to get out of your own way.

Step number two: Start listening to your thoughts. Not the thoughts that go round and round your head every day about your job and your family and your finances, but those little stray thoughts that come from nowhere and slip out before you even realize they’re there. Practice catching them and writing them down. If you think you don’t have thoughts like that, go back to step number one.

Step number three: Once you’ve made a regular practice of noticing these little stray thoughts, try to catch one as you’re thinking it. Pretend the implications of the thought are real. Play out the scenario in your mind.

Here’s an example: You’re studying for an exam. You’re cramming facts into your brain when suddenly you think, “my sister is driving a new red sports car”. Grab that thought! Now, your sister owns a station wagon, but this strange little thought just flits in like an insect. Right away your logical mind will bat it away. So grab it quickly. And test it. What kind of car is she driving? Has she ever mentioned that she wanted this type of car? If she bought it, could she afford it?

WRITE IT DOWN. DATE IT.

Next time you talk to your sister, tell her about what you were thinking…and see what she says. You have to practice in this way over and over to get where you’re trying to go. You might have tuned in to a past event, or a future event – so let a little time go by before you check it out. Who knows, your sister may phone YOU to say she bought that little red car!

If you want to read Tarot cards or do some other kind of divination for others, you must really master these steps. So, Lather. Rinse. Repeat. It doesn’t matter what divination tool you are drawn to use, the way you tune in to someone starts with this.

After you’ve reached a measure of success with this method, you can try others. A popular one is to have a notebook and pencil next to your bed. As you’re waking up, you must remember to catch your first 5 thoughts and write them down. Then see how they play out in your day. It’s difficult to do this exercise if you haven’t gotten pretty good at the first three steps, so don’t push yourself. If you try this too soon, you’ll just get frustrated…like trying to play Carnegie Hall after your first trumpet lesson.

The next class is purely psychological – and a real test of your ability to listen.

DEEPENING YOUR PSYCHIC ABILITIES — CLASS #2

We’ve already covered some tips on developing your psychic talents. I hope you’ve taken the time to try them out – more than once! It really is all about practice. Even the most experienced readers can get rusty if they don’t keep their eye on the ball.

Today I’d like to take you to the next step of your psychic development. You have begun to listen to the whispers that slip in and out of your mind and twirl around your normal thoughts. You’ve started catching them and writing them down. And you’ve begun to seek confirmation of them. Now comes a slightly trickier part: this is the part between becoming aware of your psychic talents and sitting down with a client.

This step I call DeepEmpathy.

This step takes even more practice, but luckily, you can do it in conjunction with the above described exercises. When you catch one of these ephemeral thoughts, I want you to identify with it completely. What does that mean, exactly? It means that if the thought has to do with someone else, you imagine that it really is about you. Let’s say you are watching the nightly news on TV. You are watching footage of a war, and “the bad guys” are losing. You might have a stray thought that goes like this: “They deserve it.”

Stop.

Imagine that you are one of “the bad guys”. Imagine that you understand their point of view. See how you can empathize with their actions. I know this sounds crazy, but stick with me. It is never right to use violence against another. BUT, anger and violence are the results of thoughts that one has about one’s life. Violence at any level is the out-picturing of an inward condition. I’m only asking you to join with their thoughts, here, but the most important part of the lesson is this:

In this exercise only, YOU have now become THE OTHER, so now you cannot hate him or wish him ill. Say to yourself, “that could be me”, “I could be him”, “we are the same”. And explore it – deeply. What do those phrases mean? Don’t be afraid. On the level of the mind, we are all one.

You have not become one of the bad guys. You have simply taken the time to join with him. You have taken a moment to explore his thought process, to understand how he has become who he is. This level of empathy is the key to the very best reading. Joining with others, whether we like them or not, is the mightiest teacher and the cornerstone of developing a solid psychic talent.

HOW DIFFERENT ARE TAROT DECKS? — CLASS #3

Let’s begin learning about the cards.  Pictured above are cards from the suit of swords, as depicted in the Divine Animals Deck and the Archeon Deck.  I chose them because they do have similarities.  They’re both from the suit of swords, as mentioned, but they also involve birds: one has a hawk of some type, and the other a raven, but the similarities seem to end there.  Let’s look a bit more closely.

Swords generally have to do with intellect, intelligence and the left side of the brain.  Knowing only this, I’d like you to look at the Four of Swords and tell me what you think this card is saying to you right now.

Go ahead — take a few minutes. I’ll be right here.

So, what did you think?  What kind of bird crossed your mind as you looked at it? Ignore the fact that it says “the Hawk” — this bird can be whatever you want it to be. Was it an eagle? An owl? A mythical bird?  Whichever bird it was for you, what do you think of when you think of that bird?  This will get you started.  Now, when you looked at the light above the bird’s head, what did it make you think of? The sun? The moon? A great insight? Did it have an omnipotent feature?  Whatever the light meant to you, dig a little deeper.  That light signified something – now what meaning does that ’something’ have for you? How does that relate to the bird?

And what about those swirls in the air? How did they feel to you? Did you notice that some of them seem to have gotten caught on the hilts of the swords? What does that mean?

We’re getting somewhere!  Those swords — all that intelligence and logic — they’re stuck in a pile of what appears to be twigs. Did you think they were something other than twigs? Did it look like snakes? Or old weeds? Whatever they looked like to you, when you think of that thing, what does it mean to you? What other thoughts always come up with that image?

I’ll take a minute here, so you can put all these thoughts together.

Now, normally when reading cards, you won’t look at every element in each card to get the story you’re looking for.  In fact, quite the contrary.  It will usually be only one or two elements that are appropriate at that moment. But the way you look at those one or two elements in each of several cards lying on the table looking up at you, involves the same exercise we just went through — it just happens a bit more quickly.

There is no right or wrong answer to this exercise.  It’s just practice. Practice in seeing what a card has to offer, and what you bring to those symbols, yourself.  As you become familiar with looking at the cards in this way, you can eventually add the most crucial ingredient: a client.

You’ve probably guessed why the second card is here.  Yes, I want you to do the exercise again.  Write down your very first thoughts for each element. This time, you might include the element of color, too.  What do the symbols in the card mean to you?  That is the only place you can start.
